Nearpod

Nearpod is a interactive platform that facilitates interactive elements into a teachers lesson plans. It uses multimedia presentations, interactive quizzes and test as well as a collaborative option to allow students to work together on the assignments together. This platform offers useful additions to a teachers lessons with videos, virtual field trips and 3d objects to help engage learners of all types. These items offer countless benefits to educators trying to reach students.

Unfortunately Nearpod is not perfect and has some faults for teachers to contend with. One main one is this is a subscription based software meaning to access every tool that is offered a teacher must pay themselves or attempt to convince their school to pay for it. This program offers quite a few presets for the core subjects but offers little at least on the free side for non core subjects like language studies. It also is limited to students who own/have access to computers and internet. The program also may be wildly daunting for teachers who are hesitant or not as skilled in technology.

This program can be a invaluable tool for modern educators. This would allow personalized learning and study guides with teachers being able to see and make notes on exactly where each learning is struggling. This knowledge can be used to provide real time updates to assist any student and make adjustments on the lessons. If this tool is used correctly it can be a good tool to enhance the learning of students, through working at home or school this keeps the teacher informed of where each student stands in their knowledge and understanding.

  1. Hi Seitz! I really enjoyed your blog post on Nearpod, I definitely agree with your statement about how this program can be really daunting for teachers who aren't as skilled with technology. I didn't know that Nearpod offered the capability to see 3d objects, I think that's a great feature for students learning science-related things. Do you think that the free version is enough to suffice a class?
